cosmetic dentistry

First impressions can make a difference. We would like to help you improve your smile and to give you greater confidence. Cosmetic dentistry does not have to be complicated or expensive.

We can improve the appearance significantly by bonding tooth coloured filling material to your teeth or by replacing discoloured fillings and minor shaping of natural teeth.

In the back teeth, we can replace old silver amalgam fillings with tooth coloured filling materials. Missing teeth can be replaced with bridges, dentures or implants.

Sometimes a more advanced approach is required, linking many types of dental treatment to give you the smile you want. Treatment can be phased over months, or even years, to help spread costs.

Take a Smile Check and talk with your dentist about it. If the options available to you are complex and varied, the dentist may recommend that you book an Advanced Cosmetic Consultation appointment which will afford you more time to consider and discuss the alternatives.

We would like our success to be reflected in your smile!

Tooth whitening

This is a great way of improving your smile and making your teeth look fresh, healthy and younger. It is simple and painless and needs no “drilling”. We will provide you with custom made trays and material so that you can do it at home.

First of all impressions are taken... from which a study model is produced. This is painted with a special material which increases the thickness of the tooth area. When the tray is prepared a small pocket is produced and the whitening solution occupies this pocket ... ensuring that it only comes into contact with the required surfaces,,, and that no damage is done to the soft gums.

Porcelain veneers

Porcelain veneers are thin sheets of porcelain bonded over the front of your natural teeth. They can be used to change the colour, shape and position of your teeth and are bonded to your teeth to give you a very natural smile.

Discoloured, chipped or cracked teeth can benefit from a veneer. A thin layer of the tooth surface is shaved off. A veneer is made to fit perfectly, protecting the tooth underneath.

Crowns & Bridges

Crowns are often the best way of protecting heavily filled teeth from breaking. At the same time they can improve the appearance of discoloured or misshapen teeth. A crown covers the tooth and is matched in colour to the existing teeth. Some crowns have porcelain bonded to metal, others are metal free, for improved aesthetics.

Crown margins ... over time the gum can recede from the crown, this is the crown margin. The old crown can be removed and a new, deeper crown fitted to cover this area.

A bridge replaces a missing tooth or teeth by using the teeth on either side of the gap. They are made with the same materials as crowns and, as with crowns, match the colour of existing teeth. In some cases minimal tooth preparation is required when using adhesive bridges.

The adjacent teeth are prepared . A Bridge is made which exactly matches the space ...... and is then fitted across the gap.

Dentures

Missing teeth can be replaced with very natural looking dentures. There are many options and we are happy to discuss all of these with you.

Tooth coloured fillings and Cosmetic Enhancements

In one visit old silver amalgam fillings can be removed and replaced with tooth coloured filling materials.

A gap between teeth (diastema) can appear unsightly. Tubes are placed over the two teeth and filled with composite material. This builds up the teeth, closing the gap. The material is then hardened with a bright light.
